Two summers ago, we lived in Vermont and we loved every second of it! Vermont is a beautiful place with so many fun places to go and yummy places to eat! One of our favorite restaurants was Vermont Tap House– they have amazing brick oven pizzas and some fun unusual flavors! One pizza in particular was the Vermonter. Since sadly we have no plans to return to Vermont any time soon.. We came up with the genius idea to replicate this pizza– and it came out PERFECTLY! So good that we have made it 3x in the last two weeks!! 😅 So if you’re looking to switch up your usual dinner plans, here is your new game changer!
Pizza dough (We use and love Portland Pie Company- garlic)
1/2 stick of melted butter
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp minced garlic
1 apple (we used gala but I’m sure whatever Apple will do!
Red onion (I honestly didn’t measure this one.. I just put what I thought looked like enough.– photo below)
About 1/3 lb Bacon (I recommend getting the good stuff from the butcher. The thick cut makes a huge difference)
Pizza cheese (we used the prepackaged stuff from the grocery store)
Maple syrup!! This seems weird I know but it is the key ingredient!
Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Melt the butter in a bowl along with garlic salt. Flatten out the dough. Cover the dough with the butter mixture. Top with minced garlic. Add a thin layer of cheese (maybe 1/4 of the bag) then the apples!bacon 😍😍😍onions and top it off with the rest of the cheese! Bake for 10-15 minutes. We like our pizza a little bit well done, but the choice is yours! Once it comes out of the oven, drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy! I’m looking forward to left overs for lunch. 😜
